Afri-Tech Kenya 2011: A historic summit for Africa
The rules of economic engagement and business transactions have been transformed by the adoption of various online tools and technologies. The democratic nature of digital marketing technology has been instrumental in alleviating unemployment and poverty from some of the most underdeveloped regions of the world and at the same time it has created a global platform for research and collaboration. Afri-Tech has been diligently engaged in bringing the virtues and benefits of digital marketing to the African business community.
The Afri-Tech summit on ‘Digital and Internet Marketing’ to be held in Kenya (June, 2011) is most appropriately timed considering the resurgence of Africa as one of the most untapped business destination. According to a Harvard Business Review – “The median profit margin for 1,869 businesses surveyed in sub-Saharan Africa was 11% (based on World Bank data) – better than comparable figures for Asia and South America.”

Demographically, the African continent represents the fastest expanding marketplace. Its 600 million people are growing at an average annual rate of 3 percent, compared to 0.5 percent in developed countries. This historic summit will not only provide unprecedented business opportunities for the participating brands but will also create noble synergies in transforming the economy of one of the most resourceful regions of the world.
